Wife was feeling ok today so she helped me go through the rest of the 1987 Topps cards and omg are there alot of doubles o.O I still have a bit to filter to possibly complete a 2nd set but it doesn't look like there's 3 there like I thought. Also attended some thing on facebook put on by Beckett Media by their editor Chris Olds last Wednesday and won a tri-pack of 2013 O-Pee-Chee Hockey cards and since I don't collect hockey, I'll trade em for some 60s Topps or 50s Bowman(had these listed on Listia and no one bit). There's another one tonight at 9:30pm EST and every Wednesday at 9:30pm EST(hopefully I'll score some baseball cards this time). Wife came up with an idea on housing all my cards so their in their place and don't look like their all over the place. A card catalog type setup. It'll look clean and like they belong in the room rather some boxes over here or there that look messy. Using the free 3d program Sketchup, I went about building what I thought the thing should look like. First thing that popped into my head was the card catalogs from the New York City Library as seen in the opening scenes of Ghostbusters, so I went about and drew me a display that's 10 drawers heigh, 6 drawers wide, and sits on a thirty inch heigh stand(typical desk height).

As you can see from the images, the thing's going to be huge! The drawers are pull-out and are long enough to hold 792 cards in toploaders. Now to get the darn thing built lol.

Just got this set of 6 Mets cards in from a Listia bid - they range in years from 2002 to 2006 and look to all be Bowman. Into the collection they go.

Have a couple of things to post about today - the first is I got most of the 1987 Topps box done. There's still a good 36 wrapped packs of 30 cards to go through. Started moving a set into a card box which will be available for sale on here before I go sell it on Listia or BitMit. I'll also accept trades on it for something once all 792 cards have been accounted for. I also got a twitter feed up and running here(its also linked at the top) so if anyone wishes to follow me, feel free. I won't just be posting stuff about the collection on there or baseball in general so you've been warned.

Collection wise I was in my local Wal-Mart today getting Dew and stuff for dinner when I saw they expanded their baseball card section(more then before). Cards take up 1/2 the display now while the other half is football, bsketball, pokemon, etc.. so I picked me up a pack of 12-2013 Topps. Rather, 11 actual cards and an ad card for some sort of Pog-shaped baseball thingys(as if Topps Attax wasn't bad enough last year). I have to give Michael Eisner props for trying, but no. Got home in time to catch the Mets vs Braves at Citi Field on SNY. 10th inning score should'nt've ever happened and that umpire shoulda been smacked across the face or dragged off the field or something - you just don't go around dismissing Mets managers on their home field! I think he made the call because the game went into overtime and wanted to get it over with. Was still a bad call.

Lost the bid at the LAST possible minte on the Phil Ruzzuto card(I was so sure I had the bid on that! No matter, it's good to see that there are people that know who he was. Ending bid was something like 8,000 credits. Anyhow, got my eye on a 1955 Bowman Don Bollweg to slowly complete the 1955 Bowman set I sort of started last year(by started I mean someone sent me 2 cards from the set). Also, for those interested in seeing what Listia is and how it operates, go here. Listia uses credits instead of dollars(although you can buy credit with dollars but not the other way around) and many of the items on there are free shipping.

Site wise I spruced up the site with some things. I was told the follow button wasn't working so I removed it and put an e-mail follow instead(new posts will go direct to your email and it's 100% annamous). I also added a Trade List(cards I'm willing to part with to trade for whatever) and a Donation List(those that've donated cards to me over the years). Updated the Contact Me link so that it explains more about donating, trading and/or buying and added a site counter. To the best of my knowledge it's value is correct(I set it so it doesn't track my page views). Updated the Values tab of the spreadsheet so that instead of doing a total set analasis by year, it does a current price set analisis and and an analisis of where the collection currently stands(which is why the collection's only worth $303 currently instead of $14,000 lol). Otherwise it's been pretty quiet.

Found out the wife's Liukimia has returned. Doctors are talking about more rounds of chemo but I'm against it because if she does, it will kill her and I'll be damned if I let that happen so I've been staying up late with her while she rolls into a ball and vomits every few hours. Try to keep her as comfy as possible. It may get to a point where the collection will have to be put on hold again so that I might take care of my wife but until then, UPDATES!!!
