8.5.2026 Update
I know the year is almost over and generally surprised anyone stays pays attention to this blog. Fentress County recently had their 127 sale however didn't get a chance to see if anyone was selling cards(nor get the chance to ask). Will be changing the site around to bring it back to what it was intended for: the collection of baseball cards. This means my stock of Pokemon, Fortnite, and Football cards will be up for sale not to mention any accessories(like the ornament balls Topps came out with). On that note I haven't really touched anything for 2025 or 2026 which has been unforunate as I was given the opportunity to preorder 2026 Topps but didn't persue. Something that has always peaked my interest has been how many of these cards were released in total(Topps went on record to say they have no idea) so I will be actively perusing buysportscards.com to fill that. I am always buying cards from folks as BSC is just one source and my buy rate is still active.
Stay frosty,
Matt

A gift
I was talking with my maintenance guy and he said that every time someone moves out sometimes they will leave stuff behind, and more than once has it been baseball cards. So he gave me these baseball talk cards and some duplicates from 1990 Bowman that I needed. I've never seen these talk cards before. They say 1989 by grand toys in Canada which may or may not have been sold in the US. I am about to tear open one of these and see what they are because my understanding is that they operate like the Hallmark cards with a sound. have a consider that a a win and for the collection.

12.20.2025
2025 has been a roller coaster for myself both physically and mentally, and I think I'm finally starting to get ahold of that. I know others have been having trying times this year as well and the Government shutdown didn't help anyone. I hope 2026 is better to all of us.
In card news Topps has released their Holiday Mega Box for 2025 - I was fortunate to have grabbed the last one from my local Wal-Mart(Jamestown doesn't have a dedicated card shop nor would one survive here). Just like previous years it's a 200 card set and will be working on completing that. Still working on completing last years holiday set as also a few others. The different variances in these sets throw me for a loop still as their the base card with different levels of pizzaz. I figured Fanatics would've put an end to that when they purchased Topps but doesn't look like it. As much as I utilize BuySportsCards.com I'm always purchasing bulk cards. Just need to fill out the form and yes the rate is still accurate. That's based on Pokemon bulk buying from TCGPlayer and feels fitting. I am on the fence though wither to continue to offer to trade away dupes as there never seems to be any interest in them.
I think that covers everything.
Merry Christmas and Stay Frosty,
Matt

Updating lists while I have the time. Walmart/Sams Club has stopped carying the
Crayon Boxes I was using and have changed over to using albums made by a company
called Fonwill. They cost me about $35/album but each one holds over 1,000 cards
and load from the side instead of the top. Both Amazon and Temu sell them.
Thanks for checking in for those that do

Back From the Dead
Wow, last post was May/2022. Just a note that this blog is still here and active and will beginging to be updated starting this afternoon sometime. Some sets have been complete and some(like the 1988 Topps base that got me into card collecting) is literally ONE card away from being complete. Topps Fanatics is going to be releasing another holiday set this year so stoked for that(I got and completed last years base set). I have been getting my cards from buysportscards.com
Anyhow, come back with me as we rekindle this blog as the goal has never changed, just situations and Pokemon.

Boxes
Happy belated 2022 everyone who still reads. Ive attempted many storage things for the cards over the years and while it seemed like vacuu-packing them was a good idea, I only have one complete set, so I gave the vacuum sealer away as it was collectong dust and have started buying these card-sized boxes from Wal-Mart. Now, they refer to these boxes as crayon storage boxes, but their big enough to fit even the '89 Topps BIG in them comfortably. Each box will hold roughly 62 cards, which is perfect since many of whats in the collection is under that. For the bigger sets I bought a dremmel, cut the bottoms off, and hot glued the boxes together and that works wonderfully. The second set im close to completing is 1988 Topps, which currently spans ten boxes. I know Ive said it multiple times over the years when I received that huge box of cards but I never thoight it'd take this long to sort through em. I'll be making some changes here to the site soon to set up a sell form to buy cards from folks since that was a thing some time ago, and is something I can do now.
Be well,
Matt

So the Time has Come
So the time has come for Topps and Panini to hang their hats on producing cards. True it doesn't take place for a few more years but I'm rather said. Sad that Fanatics didn't go after Upper Deck or Donruss instead. The even sadder part will be how much more worthless Topps cards will be once all of that happens. Not sad for me since I collect anything under the sun, but for the other collectors out there that stick to one company or team or whatever. To that regard I think I'm going to open a card shop. Why? Because I'm not greedy and want to see the glory days of Baseball Card collecting, even if it isn't with glory day card material. Not much in collector news. I see more cards up for pennies on Ebay but that's about it really. My luck the card shop crashes and burns like everything else but hey, the blog's still here at least.
Happy October folks,
Matt

2020
So 2020's been an interesting year for alot of folks, myself included. Home base is going to permanantly be TN, no more of this running around the country on a whim(thanks folks). I've also pretty much given up on anything outside of here in attempting to promote the blog. If folks come, they come. If not, oh well. The 3d printer idea was nice houwever, the boxes broke during moving because of how thin they are because of the limitations of the machine, so I bought a vacuum sealer and have had better luck(straightened out some of the cards as well). I'm seeing this as the only sure fire way to preserve the card sets since no air or water or anything can get to them. That said after this note I'll be updating the wanted cards list as that's kept me occupied. I've been hesitant to put them up but I also know that silence on here means folks ignore here and can't have that :D
Was also recently given an Iphone 6s set up for straighttalk by my sister's husband and the service has been wonderous, so picture will come out that much clearer hopefully.

Not Dead Yet!
Hiya folks! 2020's been an off year for me and 2021 doesn't look to be any better. That said, I'm still here and still collecting cards even though we're still in the middle of what can only be described as half-end times. So the first thing was President Trump passed a stimulus to qalifying residents of the USA and territories(not many knew that). Many went out and bought a bigger tv while others attempted to bank pile it only to discover that they couldn't or their branch went under, etc... I bought a 3d printer and some fillament while waiting for the price of diesel to drop(and it did for awhile). I bought the EasyThreed X1 for $100 off Amazon and two rolls of fillament for $50. What does a 3d printer have to do with this blog? Well for a time I was tossing back and forth how I was going to go about storing the cards that are in the collection in a way where they wouldn't get damaged. Now, the print bed on the X1 is 100x100x100mm which is fine for what I need it for, so I opened up Sketchup, put together a card box, put some pins in it, a top rail, and split it up before sending it to Blender to convert to STL before sending it to the printer's software that uses gcode. It's alot simpler when you do it a few times.
Below is a pic of the X1, and the front part of the card box i printed. If anyone has a 3d printer and wants the STL files to make your own, message me and I'll send them along as they'll work with other types of cards not just Baseball.

Cards List Updated
Somewhere in the early stages of this blog I thought it was a good idea to list the card sets and strike them off as I have them. Not only has that process become tedius, it's made me want to not list the card period and go back to bed. Well, I changed it around so the cards page lists what's needed to finish off the sets. Don't have to mess with images, or tables, or fancy do-hickeys... simple text. K.I.S.S on that note, I've listed what at the current moment is missing from the 1988 Topps set. I have more here to go through starting tomorrow and even then unfoil(yes I had an idea to protect cards with tin foil, only then realizing they look like coke bricks then baseball cards >.<) the mountain dew-sized box of '88 Topps. Every year I'm asked what I want for Christmas and I tell em the same thing: Baseball Cards. It's the point of this blog - complete the sets. Doubles aren't doubles, just sets not completed yet. Blogs like this one need to be around for this very reason.
Happy Yule everyone, Matt

Closing out 2019
So it's become that wondrous time of the year again - yes it's getting close to ending 2019 and welcoming 2020 as a new year of hope. This blog's always on my mind even as I'm working through other projects(like the webcomic that started up in August). That said, I've purged the youtube and twitch vids. It was an idea, plain and simple, and since it didn't go over as well as I'd hoped, there's no reason to keep them around any longer. I've also returned the site back to its previous layout - someone messaged me over Gmail and asked what anime and baseball had to do in common, and it struck me that maybe I'm putting too much 'me' into here. I think it all went along the lines of trying to improve what I saw as an already good thing(again was wrong so that's 2 for 2). I was also noted by a Google rep that they plan to keep Blogger around for as long as it's being used, which further led me to research some things and confirmed what I thought: Blogger makes more money than YouTube(then again at this point, even yahoo makes more money than YouTube so...). I'm also now set up east of Kingman, AZ for those that follow what goes on in my personal life.
So what does this mean for The Card Collector? This means since I only really have three projects on my plate, I can dive back into this. Not once did I ever think of giving it up, putting it on the back burner, or want to do something precarious to it - so that's something. That said, the project still runs off donations and I'm always still accepting cards no matter what they are or their condition. I think if I do what I do here, everything else will take care of itself.
Merry Christmas everyone,
Matt ^_^

Happy 2019 Everyone!
Yes it's belated, didn't have net for most of December and part of January. I still have a very optimistic outlook for 2019 and that keeps me going. Speaking of, I was given 60 packs of cards ranging in years from 1989 to 1992 for Christmas and a Samsung Tab A and I have a database program on there that sorts everything and spits out as a spreadsheet so i'm very excited to see how much of the collection I can cram into the program before it yells at me that there's no more room :D I might actually get the collection sorted this year which would be nice since I've been dragging my feet on it since I got that major box of cards a few years ago. For those curious or are happy, the YouTube series I was trying to push is done. It didn't do what it was suppose to do and that was to bring people here, so my next thought is to try to get the site in the top slot on search results. See if that does anything.

Here's to a new year, Matt
